When dining out, people want to feel at home. They want healthy, straightforward ingredients, delectable dishes and an inviting, ambient atmosphere. At Restaurant Doro, guests are truly treated like family. There they enjoy delicious, wholesome meals in an intimate setting.
Owner and Chef Christopher Polidoro’s passion for cooking began at an early age. He grew up helping his mother with cooking and baking. He enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen and learning how to perfect dishes. Polidoro started his career by working in a restaurant doing prep and further developed his skills. He then attended and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. When he moved from New York to Florida, he decided to pursue his dream of opening a small restaurant. When a former sushi restaurant at the town center in Neptune Beach became available, he knew that he found the perfect location.
At Doro, the culinary team focuses on crafting meals that guests can feel good about eating. Each dish is made with fresh, real ingredients. They value their partnership with local farmers and recognize the significance of farm-to-table dining.
Their menu is a blend of fan favorites and rotating seasonal dishes. Their appetizer options include fresh salads, savory soups and tasty small bites from land and sea. The entrees are classic dishes with exciting elements like seared tuna with heirloom tomatoes and creamed sweet corn; and duck breast with roasted eggplant, apple butter, sesame and hoisin. Dessert is not to be missed with options like tart key lime panna cotta served with nut granola and berry jus; and decadent dark chocolate pot de creme.
Doro recently celebrated 10 years of business. When asked what he likes best about what he does, Polidoro said that he enjoys the creative outlet that cooking provides. He likes the adrenaline of meeting deadlines and the constant energy that comes with running a restaurant. He takes pride in seeing the results of hard work and making guests feel welcome at his table. The atmosphere at Restaurant Doro feels more like an intimate dinner party, he said.
Restaurant Doro recently participated in the Beaches Restaurant Week and plans to take part in next year’s as well.
