Judith Hyle Hudgins, age 81, passed away in her husband’s arms on October 2, 2026. Judy was born in Newport News, VA. and graduated from Ferguson High School. She was married to Edward A. Hudgins, Jr. for 60 years and they travelled the world including living in Brazil for a spell. Judy’s son, Greg, and his wife, Lisa, live on Long Island, and her daughter, Angie, and her husband, Jim, live in Florida with their two children Cole and Haven.

Judy raised the family primarily on eastern Long Island where, when the children got older, she thoroughly enjoyed working summers on farm stands offering fresh produce to visitors at Youngs and Rottkamp as well as flowers at Talmage Farms. She was active in the Arts and Crafts scene for much of her life and was an expert with needle & thread. She always had a craft project in the works like a quilt, and she taught craft classes at Heirloom Country Collectables in Riverhead as well as at the Cross Stich Cat in Mattituck. Additionally, Judy was an excellent cook and made the best Strawberry Rhubarb pie imaginable.

Judy and Ed relocated from New York to Stuart, Florida in 1998 to escape the cold winters and take full advantage of the sunshine state. Almost immediately they started sailing the inland waterways in their Catalina Capri sailboat. Also, it wasn’t long before they began week-long trips to the Bahamas to swim and snorkel, and month-long forays to the North Carolina mountains to hike. A few years ago, they moved north to Ponte Vedra, FL to be closer to the Mayo Clinic.

In Judy’s memory, friends and acquaintances are encouraged to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.
