Haunted History of Florida

Oct. 6: 3-5 p.m.

Experience the darker side of the Sunshine State with this immersive, story-driven journey into Florida’s most historic hauntings. This presentation explores ghostly legends rooted in real events, blending folklore, eyewitness accounts and verifiable history to reveal a Florida that tourists rarely see. From colonial intrigue to gangster-era violence and wartime tragedy, Haunted History of Florida uncovers the eerie echoes of the state’s past, offering audiences a compelling blend of true history and supernatural lore. Tech Help with David

Are you feeling frustrated by technology, such as how to use your laptop or your phone? Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library’s Tech Volunteer David Ross is here to help! Please bring your device and your questions. David can help you one-on-one with your tech, including iPhone and Android cell phones or tablets, PC and Mac laptops, and Nook and Kindle readers.

Halloween Movie Night!

Color, Craft & Connect

Oct. 13, 27: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Do you enjoy crocheting, knitting, embroidery or other craft? Bring your project or be inspired by other crafters! Coloring supplies will be provided.

Community Shredding Event

Oct. 17: 8:30 a.m. to noon

St. Johns County residents are invited to a free on-site shredding event to securely dispose of old paperwork, bills and confidential documents.

Coffee Tasting with Kookaburra Coffee

Oct. 17: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Calling all coffee lovers! Join the local coffee shop, Kookaburra Coffee, for a guided coffee tasting experience. Participants will explore flavor, aroma and origin of different types of coffee. This program is for adults only and registration is required. RSVP 904-827-6950 or sjcpls.org.

Ponte Vedra Writers Group

Oct. 17: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Calling all writers, future novelists and curious minds! Join this monthly program with engaging guest speaker Kaye Schmitz, who will present “Internal & External Conflicts.” Brought to you by a partnership between the Ponte Vedra Writers Group, Florida Writers Association and the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Public Library.

Animal Tales: Creepy Critters

Oct. 17: 2-3 p.m.

Just in time for Halloween. Creepy Critters feature those animals that are often seen as icky or scary. However, this is often due to simple misunderstanding and fear passed down through generations. The Animal Tales naturalist will introduce these creepy critters in a new a positive way.

Cricut Workshop: Faux Leather 101

Oct. 22: 1-3 p.m.

Learn how to use your Cricut machine to make faux leather crafts. Participants will go home with something that they create! Please note, participants should be familiar with the Cricut design space software and general laptop use. Memory Cafe

Oct. 26: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library is partnering with the St. Johns County Dementia Care and Cure Initiative (DCCI) Task Force to host a monthly Memory Cafe at the library. Memory Cafés are a welcoming social gathering where people experiencing cognitive challenges and the people who care about them come together for friendship, fun and acceptance. Both the person living with a cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias, along with their primary caregiver or a loved one will attend as a pair. RSVP 904-827-6950 or sjcpls.org.
