The Borland Groover Foundation’s inaugural Fore! To Get Screened golf tournament drew a strong turnout Friday, Oct. 2, at King & Bear Golf Course in St. Augustine, bringing golfers, sponsors and community partners together to raise funds for colon cancer prevention, screening access and patient assistance.
The best-ball tournament featured sponsor activations throughout the course, lunch, a raffle and an awards presentation. Built around the message “Your best shot is prevention,” the event created a new way for the community to support the foundation’s work alongside their other 5K fundraiser for awareness, March To Get Screened.
Funds raised through Fore! To Get Screened will support foundation programs that help expand access to screening and care, including financial assistance of up to $5,000 for eligible patients facing treatment-related expenses and screening colonoscopy vouchers for underinsured members of the community.
Following the positive response to the inaugural tournament, the foundation looks forward to bringing Fore! To Get Screened back next year and continuing to build the event as a community tradition in support of colorectal cancer prevention.
