Coastal Wine & Tapas hosted a benefit on Oct. 8 to raise funds and awareness for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, bringing the community together in support of individuals and families affected by the disease. The walk will take place Nov. 16 in Jacksonville.

Michael Tumolo, event chairman for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, shared the importance of community involvement and the hope for a future without Alzheimer’s.

“The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is about so much more than walking,” he said. “It’s about honoring those we love, supporting the families facing this disease every day, and holding onto the hope that one day, we will live in a world without Alzheimer’s. Every step we take brings us closer to that future.

“Alzheimer’s touches families from every walk of life, and no family should have to face this journey alone. When Jacksonville comes together to walk, we turn compassion into action, raise awareness and help fund the research and support that can change lives.

“Jacksonville has an opportunity to show what a caring and committed community can accomplish when it comes together for a common cause. Every walker, every donation and every conversation helps shine a light on Alzheimer’s and brings us one step closer to a breakthrough.”

The benefit underscored the power of community support in raising awareness, funding research and bringing hope to families affected by Alzheimer’s.
