The Local: A Neighborhood Favorite

Posted

For a taste of exciting and diverse flavors from abroad, you don’t need to travel or even leave your neighborhood! Just dine at The Local, an eclectic restaurant featuring New American cuisine and a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere.

Taking inspiration from fresh and unique flavors around the world, co-owners J.C. Demetree and Ted Stein, opened their first location in the Miramar neighborhood in 2017. Over the years, they expanded to Neptune Beach and Ponte Vedra. All three locations are renowned for their classic menu items with fun and interesting twists.

While each location has a few menu items unique to them, as a whole, their menu is a diverse blend of seafood, Mediterranean, Asian and Southern cuisine. The Local truly has something for everyone to enjoy.

Dishes range from lighter, healthier options like the Goatacado salad and Green Goddess Hummus to sweet and indulgent plates like Hot Chicken & Waffles and The Blue Goat, a scrumptious homemade blueberry bread pudding.

Each location serves brunch, lunch and dinner. The Local offers catering services for various events including weddings and music festivals. They recently started Chef Table Dinners where clients can purchase a curated meal cooked and served from the comfort of their home for an exciting culinary experience.

The Local Ponte Vedra has one of the nicest patios in the city with plenty of comfortable seating, atmospheric string lights and greenery. The team took a former barbecue restaurant and turned it into something beautiful, Demetree said.

There is live music on the patio on Friday and Saturday nights and during Sunday brunch. Breakfast is served daily and their delectable brunch is served on Saturday and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Their 1, 2, 3 Happy Hour is $1 off oysters, $2 off any appetizer $3 off any drink from 3 to 6 p.m. every day.

The Local is proud to be a part of the community and gives back through various charity events including raising funds for childhood cancer research and supporting local schools and baseball teams. They partnered with Christ Church and donated 10% of their brunch sales for the months of June and July.

Built on the belief that every community needs a place to gather where the locals can savor a fresh and delicious meal with family and friends, The Local brings character to every dish and drink they create.

Demetree shared his excitement for the new St. Augustine location on Charlotte Street, set to open its doors in spring 2027. To learn more about The Local, go to thelocaljax.com. The Ponte Vedra location is at 226 Solano Road.
