To the Editor:
In times like these, when headlines are filled with uncertainty and disruption, it’s important to remember the real people behind statistics, especially our older adults. In Northeast Florida, tens of thousands of seniors are quietly bearing the brunt of decisions made far from their dining tables and medicine cabinets.
Even before the current crisis, many older adults were already facing difficult choices: whether to pay for food or electricity, whether to skip a meal to afford medication. These are choices no one should have to make.
At ElderSource, we see these struggles every day. That’s why we’ve launched Supper for Seniors, a community-driven initiative to help ensure older adults have access to the meals they need. Donations to this program will be distributed through our EASE (Emergency Assistance for the Elderly) Program, providing immediate relief to those most affected.
We are calling on our community to stand with us. Your support, whether through donations at MyElderSource.org/Donate, spreading the word or simply checking in on a neighbor — can make a real difference. Older adults have spent their lives building our communities. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
Let’s make sure no senior has to choose between dinner and dignity.
Sincerely,
Linda Levin
