Rakov Studio Gallery opens in St. Augustine

Award-winning local artists Nikki and Eric Rakov have announced the opening of Rakov Studio Gallery, 137 King Street, Suite 101, in the San Sebastian Art District. Rounding out a trio of fine art galleries in the historic Butterfield Garage building, the venue functions as an exhibition space, an active working studio for both artists and a creative hub offering public art workshops.

Nikki Rakov is an award-winning painter, Savannah College of Art & Design M.F.A. graduate, and long-time art educator. She was raised in Northeast Florida. Her evocative work across acrylics, oils, watercolors and drawing media explores dreamlike landscapes, atmospheric light and ancient folklore.

Eric Rakov is an award-winning visual artist holding a B.F.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology. He crafts intricate, painterly paper collages primarily using recycled magazines as his palette. Since 2014, the Rakovs have been working side-by-side out of their home-studio space in St. Johns, so when the opportunity arose they jumped at the chance to carve out their own space on King Street.

In addition to their own artwork, Rakov Studio Gallery will feature original murrine glass art and jewelry created by Penelope Rakov Lee, and hand-crafted gemstone gold and silver jewelry by Maria Devi.

“We are thrilled to have a space in St. Augustine's rich artistic landscape,” said Nikki Rakov. “Rounding out the galleries in the Butterfield Garage building is a dream, and we look forward to welcoming the community into our gallery for exhibitions and upcoming workshops.”
