Eerie adventures await at GTM EstuSCARY

Palm Valley Market every Tuesday
The Palm Valley Market is held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday inside the Palm Valley Community Center, 148 Canal Road. The market offers fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, tea, seasonal treats, soap, jewelry, plants and more.
Reserve times for Haunted Jail Alien Invasion
Sheriff Hardwick’s Haunted Jail Alien Invasion will be held at St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Jail Annex, 4025 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine. Though the Haunted Jail portion is not recommended for children younger than 10, the outdoor area will feature an outdoor movie screen, a trunk-or-treat area, games, photo booths, face painting, a merch tent, food and drinks.
Cost is $20 for the Haunted Jail. Times must be reserved. Dates are Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26.

Creatures of the Night is this weekend
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm,999 Anastasia Blvd., St. Augustine will hold its popular Halloween event, Creatures of the Night, this weekend. Meet eerie bugs and beasts, explore the park and fill your bag with treats. Dates and times are 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18-20. Advance ticket purchase is required. Tale Tellers to present spooky stories
Limelight Theatre, 11 Old Mission Ave., St. Augustine, will present “Dark and Stormy Night” from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 23. Tale Tellers of St. Augustine presents Natalie Beltrami, Chris Kastle, Lou Novak, Rita Saker and Drew Sappington spinning haunting tales. Not suitable for young ears. Explore the beach at GTM Research Reserve
Join volunteers at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM) for a beach exploration 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. Collect seashells, search for shark teeth and learn about coastal wildlife. Meet at GTM Research Reserve Visitor Center, 505 Guana River Road, Ponte Vedra Beach.
Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes. Hat, insect repellent, water and sunscreen are recommended. The event is free but online registration is required. To register, go to gtmnerr.org/visit/events.
Zoo to present Spooktacular
Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, 370 Zoo Parkway, Jacksonville, will present its annual Spooktacular on two weekends this month. Explore the zoo and gardens, visit treat stations scattered throughout and see the Forest of Frights. The latter is recommended for those age 13 and older.
Friendly ghosts will guide guests through a neon maze. The hip-hop skeletons deliver a bone-chilling performance. And take a journey to the river where a storyteller will share tales of dragons.
