Chemo Noir celebrated its 10th anniversary with a major change by moving up its annual One Mile & Wine Tasting to April instead of the summer months, and according to the nonprofit’s founder Kat Casey, the move was well received and a success.
One of the obvious differences of having an event in the spring compared to the summer is the temperatures, and it paid off for the event, which had beautiful sunny skies for the participants to run under.
In the decade since it was founded, Chemo Noir has been holding the combined wine tasting and running nine of those 10 years, and it has continued to grow over the years to become the nonprofit’s major fundraiser each year.
As has been the tradition over the years, the run is unique in that it took place on the shoreline of Jacksonville Beach and starts and ends at the Casa Marina Hotel & Restaurant, which it has had a close partnership with for years.
Awards for various categories from the race were handed out while participants enjoyed a selection of wines, which has become a staple at Chemo Noir events throughout the years and part of the fun vibe that Casey, a cancer survivor, has strived to create.
