Writers’ meeting to feature author Ed Mickolus addressing public speaking

Posted

Writing and publishing a book is only the first step for authors. Next comes marketing, which often includes public speaking.

Even introverted authors should take advantage of every speaking opportunity, and Ed Mickolus will address best practices in his presentation, “Public Speaking Tips for Authors,” at this month’s Ponte Vedra Writers meeting.

The group meets Saturday, July 25, at 11 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Mickolus will offer tips on how to best connect with your audience, including channeling jitters, reading the room, preparing PowerPoint presentations, working with tech, answering questions and dozens of other topics.

Ed Mickolus has written more than 50 books (so far), ranging from terrorism studies to humor, and had a wide-ranging 33-year career at the CIA, where, among other things, he was the public speaking coach and addressed an average of 80 audiences per year.

The Ponte Vedra Writers group is affiliated with the Florida Writers Association, a statewide membership organization dedicated to the support of both aspiring and published writers in any genre. The July 25 meeting is free and open to members and non-members alike.
