Jacksonville and Neptune Beach will serve as the scenic backdrop for what organizers hope will become the “World’s Biggest Beach Bike Ride” ever held, as cyclists and e-bike riders are invited to join a community movement built around fun, fitness, friendship and giving back.
“Bike Breakers is the kind of event that reflects the energy, spirit and sense of community that makes Jacksonville Beach such a special place,” said Chris Hoffman, mayor of Jacksonville Beach. “We’re excited to welcome riders and spectators to our beaches while supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.”
The family-friendly event will span a two-mile stretch of sand from the Jacksonville Beach Seawalk Pavilion to Atlantic Boulevard, bringing together riders of all ages and levels for a one-of-a-kind experience that blends community, wellness and philanthropy.
The inaugural Bike Breakers event will support three local causes with net proceeds benefiting: BEAM, providing emergency financial assistance to Beaches residents in crisis; V for Victory, helping families through their cancer journeys; and Two Titmice Foundation, providing financial assistance to patients battling breast cancer.
“The support we receive from the Beaches community is often the difference between stability and crisis for the families we serve,” said Jeff Winkler, chief executive officer of BEAM. “We are honored to be part of an event that brings people together while helping ensure our neighbors have access to the resources they need during difficult times.”
Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. on the Seawalk Lawn, where participants will check in for the ride by 5:30 p.m. Riders and spectators alike are invited to gather early to enjoy music, food and beverages from select local vendors, along with a lively community atmosphere before the ride begins at 6:30 p.m.
Unlike traditional cycling events, the ride is designed as a wide, dynamic wave of riders moving across the beach at a leisurely pace as they are cheered on by volunteers and spectators along the route. Riders of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Immediately following the event, all riders will enjoy Bike Breaker Benefits, discounts at participating surrounding local establishments, including some of the most popular restaurants and bars in the area.
“This is about creating something people want to be part of,” said Steven Howard, founder of Bike Breakers Foundation and a local beach resident. “A thousand bikes riding together down the beach is powerful — it’s visual, it’s inclusive and it’s something Jacksonville can take pride in.”
Organizers expect up to 1,000 riders to take part in the inaugural Bike Breakers event, laying the foundation for what they hope will become a premier annual cycling tradition. Beyond the challenge of creating what they hope will become the “World’s Largest Beach Bike Ride,” organizers are also pursuing a Guinness World Record title for the Largest E-Bike Party, contingent upon participant turnout and official record validation. The current record minimum stands at 405 e-bike riders.
The event welcomes families, recreational riders and cycling enthusiasts on both traditional bicycles and e-bikes. Early bird registration is available for $35 plus fees, with additional details at www.jaxbikebreakers.com.
