Water Circus presenting shows at Outlets this week

Cirque Italia will bring its unique Water Circus to the St. Augustine Outlets on Thursday through Sunday, Feb. 4-7.

The circus has built a reputation for its audience-pleasing acts and its use of water and lights to set its shows apart from other circuses. For the water effects, it uses a 35,000-gallon tank.

Acts include master jugglers, low-wire performers, contortionists, trampoline antics, the wheel of death and more. This is strictly an animal-free show.

In this show, Cirque Italia’s Gold Unit performers will take audiences back to a time when hula hoops and soda fountains were abundant, Elvis Presley dominated the airwaves, greased hair was all the rage and street racing was a parent’s greatest concern.

The narrative follows a 1950s-obsessed adolescent, who falls asleep and dreams of living in that era.

Cirque Italia is enforcing all recommendations set forth by the CDC and local municipalities. As a result, certain adjustments and accommodations have been made.

All attendees age 3 and older are required to wear face masks inside the tent. Masks will also be available for purchase. Social distancing will be observed, and there will be hand-sanitizer and hand-washing stations in and around the tent. Common areas will be disinfected.

Audiences are asked to purchase tickets in advance to help facilitate social distancing. This can be done through the website at cirqueitalia.com/tickets, by phone at 941-704-8572 or in person at the ticket office.

Tickets are $10 to $50, depending upon availability. Cirque Italia offers one free child admission with every full-priced paying adult ticket in levels 2 or 3. Call 941-704-8572 to get the promo code for this location.

The box office is open on-site from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Shows will be held under a large white-and-blue tent at 500 Outlet Mall Blvd., St. Augustine. Dates and times are: 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 4 and 5; 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 6 and 7.

Area residents will have additional opportunities to see the show next week at the Orange Park Mall, 1910 Wells Road, Orange Park.

Those showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 and 12; 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13; 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 14; and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 15. The box office opens at that site on Feb. 9.
