The Ponte Vedra Beach Citizens Traffic Task Force (CTTF) has just released a video that identifies the sources of traffic congestion in Ponte Vedra Beach and Palm Valley.
Last year, at the request of the task force, the St. Johns County Public Works Department funded an origin-destination traffic study of Ponte Vedra Beach and Palm Valley. Traffic engineers England-Thims & Miller produced this study, which used Streetlight software to analyze the traffic patterns of the community’s drivers. Streetlight uses the same technology as Apple and Google Maps to warn of traffic accidents and congestion.
The PVPV Origin-Destination Traffic Study identified drivers using the community's major roadway network. The technology quantified the distribution of “local,” “commuting” and “cut-through” drivers on local roadways.
The study’s findings are now available in a video on YouTube. Go to: https://www.youtube.com/@PVCTTF.
Residents of Ponte Vedra Beach, Palm Valley and other interested parties are encouraged to watch the video. It presents facts about an issue that impacts everyone.
“Only by understanding and working with the reality of our traffic situation can we make the changes necessary to improve traffic flow and road safety in our community,” said CTTF President Greg Leonard.
Community and homeowner organizations can request a presentation to learn more about the study and its findings. To request a presentation, contact cttfboard@yahoo.com.
