The St. Johns Cultural Council will commemorate textile arts this fall with workshops and theatrical performances at The Waterworks and an Art in Public Spaces exhibition at the St. Johns County Administration Building.

Events will feature two performances of “Thread and Bone,” a heartfelt and humorous solo show by Lisa Egan Woods, a Kentucky-based theater artist and heart-surgery survivor, who presents an intimate patchwork of love, grief and healing through dressmaking.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 and 2 p.m. Sept. 3 at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Ave., St. Augustine. Tickets are available at eventbrite.com/e/thread-and-bone-tickets-681802077367.

“Threading the Margins,” an Art in Public Spaces exhibition, will be on display from Sept. 5 until Nov. 30 at the St. Johns County Administration Building, Rotunda Gallery, 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine.

Seventeen local artists were selected following an open call to participate in the exhibition, which also includes antique garments and samplers from the collections of the Peña-Peck House and Ximenez-Fatio House museums.

Participating artists include Kathryn Arango, Sherry Buckingham Peck, Susan Cockerham, Gretchen Crawford, Amy Hemphill Dove, Deborah Hossbach, Jenny Keyser, Courtney Krug, An Marshall, Melissa May, Laura Mongiovi, Elizabeth Odiorne, Linda Schultz, Juanelle Strickland Marshall, Diane Thompson Cortese, Laura Towne and Cindy Wilson.

An artist reception will be held at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 5. A formal opening will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6 with comments at 6 p.m. The art events are free and open to the public.
