Autumn tradition returns

Sykes Family Farms welcomes visitors to annual corn maze and more

Posted

Sykes Family Farms, located in Elkton, has plenty of fun, fall activities from now through Nov. 2. Sykes has provided “agritainment” since 2010 and has something for everyone to enjoy.

On a recent Saturday, typical for this time of year, the sky was sunny with a light, cool breeze that rustled through the corn maze. Families enjoyed navigating the nine-acre maze aided by passports with corn trivia. There were several paths to choose from, including a storybook maze for the little ones.

Farm guests walked lush fields of colorful wildflowers and bright sunflowers and picked their own bouquets to take home for $2 a stem. Guests painted pumpkins after purchasing them from the pumpkin patch.

Sykes is also home to some adorable animals. Farm guests watched cows graze, goats play and turkeys trot.

There were plenty of engaging games and activities for children, including bounce pads, teeter-totters, a cow train, swings and a bubble barn. Farm guests enjoyed live country music while savoring delicious food from The Farmers Kitchen and tasty snacks from local vendors.

Sykes also offers a variety of special events, which can be found on their website beside each date. Some special events include vendor markets, story time on the farm and karaoke.

There will be a Halloween party on Friday the 31st, with a glow night and a Tractor Treat costume parade and contest as well as trick-or-treating on the farm.

Sykes Family Farms is open for family-friendly fun 6-10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Tickets can be purchased on the website https://sycofarms.com/upcoming-events%2Fcontact.
