Summertime means family time at Florida Water Tours

Posted

Summertime means rest and recreation. It means spending time outdoors, and most importantly, coming together as a family.

On average, kids spend more than seven hours a day in front of screens — that’s 43% of their waking hours. It’s more important than ever to encourage exploration of the vast natural world and to foster a connection with the outdoors, especially when it’s done together as a family. Spending quality time and engaging with your children promotes cognitive and social development, improves health and wellness and sparks self-discovery.

Florida Water Tours offers daily ecotourism cruises, taking customers out on the water for an educational marine adventure. Together, families learn about conservation while discovering the majestic beauty of St. Augustine’s waterways and marine wildlife.

“We truly believe summertime means family time,” said Jessica Jadick, founder of Florida Water Tours. “As a family-run business and a mom, I know the importance of spending time together outside of the hustle of everyday life. Seeing your children take in the wildlife is such a special experience.”

Florida Water Tours’ eco tours aren’t just a sightseeing cruise, but a hands-on educational excursion. Guides are personable and knowledgeable marine experts, teaching cruisers all about the wildlife they encounter in the St. Augustine waterways.

The Dolphin and Wildlife Adventure is an unforgettable, 90-minute bestseller for a reason, cruising through wetlands and coastal marshes to find an ecosystem teaming with wildlife. Cruisers will see dolphins, birds, manatees and turtles. Cruises are offered from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., every day but Tuesday.

The Marine Field Experience offers a chance to live the dream of being a marine biologist for the day. Test water quality, look at plankton through a microscope and log sightings of dolphins, manatees and other wildlife. It is offered at 10:30 a.m. on select Sundays, June 29 and July 13 and 27.

Moonlit Mysteries begins at sunset, cruising across Matanzas Bay to downtown’s historic bayfront using ancient navigation. The crew will narrate special celestial events, like shooting stars, full moons and planet alignments and share the haunted tales of the Nation’s Oldest City. This nighttime cruise is offered at 9:30 p.m. on most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Private charters offer patrons something totally unique, where families can come together for an occasion all their own. Book the swimming package, which includes beaching at a sandbar, coolers stocked with soft drinks and water, and inflatables and pool noodles. Good music and good vibes; all you need is shoes and sunscreen.

Florida Water Tours offers ecotourism cruises, from family-friendly adventures to adults-only excursions. They specialize in educating youth about marine sciences through their nonprofit, Florida Water Warriors.
