Tell us about your work as health care administrator at Cypress Village.
As health care administrator at Cypress Village, I oversee the daily operations of our health care services and work closely with our team to ensure residents receive exceptional care in a supportive and engaging environment. My role involves collaborating with staff, residents and families to maintain high standards of care while creating a culture built on compassion, respect and service.
Tell us about your background, especially as it applies to your career.
I have spent the past 20 years working in senior living, all in administrator roles. I began my career in Jacksonville and later spent a brief time in West Palm Beach before returning to Jacksonville in 2010.
Throughout my career, I have focused on creating environments where residents feel valued, supported and empowered to live their best lives. In 2016, I joined Cypress Village, and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. The relationships I have built with residents, families and team members have reinforced my passion for senior living and health care leadership.
What do you like best about what you do?
The best part of my job is the people. I enjoy building relationships with residents, their families and our staff.
Every day brings opportunities to make a positive impact, whether it’s helping a resident, supporting a family or mentoring a team member. Seeing residents thrive and knowing that our work contributes to their quality of life is incredibly rewarding.
What is a typical day like for you?
A typical day starts with meeting with my leadership team to review priorities, discuss ongoing projects and follow up on events and tasks from the previous day. From there, my day is spent collaborating with staff, addressing operational needs and engaging with residents and families throughout the community.
One of the most important parts of my day is staying visible and accessible. I enjoy walking through the community, interacting with residents and staff and making sure everyone feels heard and supported. No two days are exactly alike, which keeps the work both challenging and rewarding.
Are you from this area originally?
I am originally from Florida and have lived here my entire life. While I spent a brief period in West Palm Beach, Jacksonville has always felt like home, and I returned here in 2010. The opportunity to continue serving seniors in a community I love made the decision an easy one. When the opportunity to join Cypress Village came along in 2016, I knew it was a great fit because of its reputation for excellence and commitment to residents.
What do you like best about living here?
What I love most about Jacksonville is that it has a small-town feel while still offering all the amenities and opportunities of a much larger city. The people are welcoming, there is a strong sense of community and there is always something to do. Being close to the water, beautiful beaches, parks and outdoor activities makes it a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
How do you like to spend your free time?
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible. You can often find me at the beach, kayaking or enjoying Florida’s natural beauty. Most importantly, I love spending time with my family. My children are a huge part of my life, and recently we’ve welcomed a new addition to the family — my 18-month-old grandson. Watching him grow and experiencing life through his eyes has been one of the greatest joys of this stage of my life.
What’s next for you and Cypress Village?
I am excited about the future of Cypress Village and the opportunities ahead. Our focus remains on enhancing the resident experience, supporting our dedicated team members and continuing to provide exceptional care and services. As the needs of older adults continue to evolve, we are always looking for innovative ways to strengthen our programs and improve quality of life for our residents.
Personally, I look forward to continuing to grow as a leader, mentoring the next generation of health care professionals and helping Cypress Village remain a place where residents feel at home and families have confidence in the care their loved ones receive.
