Southlight Gallery was established in 2009 by four artists determined to bring a sustained fine art presence to Jacksonville’s urban core as part of an overall vision for the revitalization of the downtown area; this gallery exists as a dynamic collaborative that has never veered from its original mission
Over recent years, Southlight has begun inviting local artists to be featured in the guest artist corner every two months. This event brings fresh work to the gallery more often while giving artists from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to connect with downtown visitors.
This September, Southlight will present Hillary McCullough’s “Assembled Futility” series for the first time. McCullough, an instructor of photography at Jacksonville University, uses physically altered photographs to explore the body’s relationship with its surroundings. Her introspective work invites viewers to reflect on existence and the human condition.
Don’t miss this striking exhibition, on view through the end of October. Southlight Gallery is located at 1 W. Independent Drive, Unit 113, Jacksonville. Learn more at southlightgallery.com.
