Sound of live music heard once again at transformed Ponte Vedra Concert Hall

On July 30, the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall welcomed elected officials, project contributors and supporters from the community to a ceremony granting them an exclusive first look at the newly renovated facility. Two days, later the first act of the venue’s new era took the stage for a sold-out show, Grammy Award-winning bluegrass artist Dan Tyminski.

The $12.9-million renovation took place over 14 months and features upgraded sound, lighting, artist amenities, seating, concessions and infrastructure. There is a new merchandise store, an onsite Kookaburra Coffee Café, outdoor terraces and a gigantic gallery of past concert posters, many of them autographed by the visiting artists.

The work was done by local architects, contractors, tradespeople and suppliers. The property, purchased by St. Johns County in 2006, is operated by SJC Cultural Events Inc. through a public-private partnership established in 2023.

SJC Cultural Events also operates The St. Augustine Amphitheatre and produces Sing out Loud Festival and the Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series.

The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is now capable of hosting as many as 180 shows a year.

The July 30 event revealed a great optimism shared by the community for the venue’s future.

“This elegant, sophisticated and smart building that we stand in today is going to be a venue for decades where loved ones come to share experiences,” said St. Johns County Commissioner Christian Whitehurst.
