Sharks beat Raiders 53-0, Panthers beat Stingrays 29-0

High school football was back in full swing in St. Johns County on Oct. 17. 

The Ponte Vedra Sharks beat the Orange Park Raiders 53-0 in front of their home crowd. Sharks quarterback Cole Rosendahl threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns. Rosendahl completed 71.4% of his passes and rushed for 44 yards. On offense, Ponte Vedra recorded a season high of eight touchdowns, passed for 307 yards and had 179 yards on the ground. The Sharks took over the game in the second quarter, scoring 27 points, which included a touchdown from Angelo Keklilik, his first of the season. 

Ponte Vedra is now 6-2 on the season, and the win over Orange Park guaranteed them at least a tie in their division. The Sharks will host IMG Academy on Oct. 24. 

The Beachside Barracudas lost in overtime to the Middleburg Broncos 37-36. Beachside’s record is now 5-2. They will be on the road on Oct. 24 to take on Orange Park. 

The Creekside Knights broke their winning streak and lost to the Raines Vikings 51-3. Creekside’s record is now 4-5. The Knights will not return to action until Oct. 30 when they face Ponte Vedra. 

The Nease Panthers beat the Atlantic Coast Stingrays 29-0. The Panthers defense has been on fire as this is the second week in a row they have posted a shutout. Chase Phifer and Sloan Davis were selected as Nease players of the game. Nease is now 6-2 on the season and will host the Tocoi Creek Toros on Oct. 24.
