The Nease girls and boys soccer teams both continued their successful seasons and did so by capturing a pair of wins on senior night.

The girls squad finished off a commanding 5-0 victory against Providence School Jan. 18, while the boys scored five goals of their own and defeated Fernandina Beach High 5-1 a night earlier.

Three players netted the five goals for the girls (10-4-2), including seniors Ava Surage and Caitlynn Shonk both adding to the already memorable night with goals.

Shonk found the back of the net twice and Surage added one, while junior Kate Perry put in a pair of goals as well.

The shutout was the fifth of the season for the Panthers and the first since a Dec. 8 contest against Middleburg.

For the boys (8-3-4), they grabbed an early 3-1 lead at halftime and never looked back with two more goals in the second half en route to a comfortable senior night victory of their own.

Senior Arijan Batovac made the most of his night with two goals and an assist in the game.

Helping in the offensive onslaught were fellow seniors Brogan Donnelly and Charn Letbetter, who each had a goal apiece, while Donnelly also provided an assist.

Letbetter and Batovac each led the team with five shots on goal against the Pirates, and junior Ryan Chacon also put the ball in the net.

The Panthers excelled defensively as well, only letting one goal slip through on the night.

Senior Santiago Garcia led the way for the Panthers with 20 steals, while fellow senior Jacob True was right there with him and finished with 19 steals.
