Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa plans holiday happenings

It's the most wonderful time of the year for holiday happenings at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa. Guests can look forward to a wide array of celebrations between now and the new year, with events that kick off as early as Thanksgiving Day.

On Thanksgiving Day, guests can head to 1912 Ocean Bar & Rooftop at the Sawgrass Marriott's Cabana Beach Club for an array of classic Thanksgiving dishes with a beautiful ocean view. Or, at the main resort, guests can stop into Vernon's First Coast Kitchen & Bar for a Thanksgiving Day buffet. Both restaurants are open for regular business hours.

Black Friday begins a beloved annual tradition, the Teddy Bear Tea, which will occur every Saturday between opening day and Christmas Day. This exclusive tea party is a perfect holiday tradition to celebrate with the whole family. While enjoying a classic tea service, children can participate in holiday crafts and indulge in a selection of savory and sweet holiday treats. They'll even go home with a teddy bear to commemorate the special day.

The next day, continuing the weekend of holiday celebrations, Sawgrass Marriott will host its annual Christmas tree lighting and gingerbread creation reveal in the resort's lower lobby. Guests can expect a dazzling 30-foot tree, complimentary snacks and a champagne toast. Children may even glimpse the famed "Florida snow" on the outside lawn. During the tree lighting, Sawgrass Marriott is also previewing its new Christmas speakeasy.

“We'll have a lot of locals at the resort for the tree lighting; it's become pretty popular,” said Sarah Lawrence, senior marketing manager at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa. “We figured we’d let our guests enjoy the speakeasy a little early.”

The Christmas speakeasy will open every Thursday night between the lighting and the Sunday before Christmas, offering guests a bright assortment of Christmas decorations, themed cocktails and cheery music. The speakeasy is open to the public and can be found by asking a staff member at the lower lobby bar for secret directions.

The resort’s Spa-liday event on Dec. 5 offers an open house experience at the serene spa, featuring giveaways, wine tastings, hors d'oeuvres, chair massages and more.

Finally, rounding out the holiday season, Vernon's First Coast Kitchen & Bar will host a family-style Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day buffet. Guests can make reservations using Open Table and expect a delicious outro to the holiday season.
