The Municipal Service District (MSD) of Ponte Vedra Beach held their monthly meeting at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on June 8.
The meeting was heavily attended by members of the community who spoke on the growing need for a sidewalk on San Juan Drive.
One resident who lives on San Juan Drive said much of the community is in favor of the sidewalk and that the petition in favor of the sidewalks now has more than 150 names on it.
Another resident who lives on San Juan Drive urged the MSD to do what they could to expedite the process saying that traffic is only getting worse, and there is a growing safety concern.
It is almost certain that the new sidewalk will be going in on the west side of San Juan Drive. One resident who lives on the west side of San Juan Drive spoke at the meeting and said that he and his wife are in favor of the sidewalks even though it may disrupt some of their landscaping.
MSD Chair Kitty Switkes assured the resident that the MSD will be in constant communication with all residents that are going to be affected by the installation of the new sidewalk.

In other business, Lori Wells, president of the Ponte Vedra Community Association, spoke at the meeting about the July 4 parade the association is organizing.
Wells urged the community to get involved and join the parade by decorating a bike, a scooter or a golf cart. Parade participants will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, at Christ Church and the parade will begin at 9 a.m.
