Once again this year, local residents and visitors alike had an ideal opportunity to explore Amelia Island’s culinary traditions and award-winning restaurant scene.
Amelia Island Restaurant Week, coordinated by the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), spotlighted 24 locally owned restaurants and their signature dishes. Held during a traditionally slower time for tourism, Restaurant Week is one of the community’s longest-running initiatives promoting small, independent businesses.
This year, the 10-day “week” was held Jan. 16-25.
“Every year, Restaurant Week gives us another chance to lift up the chefs, owners and family-run establishments that are the heart of Amelia Island,” said Gil Langley, president and CEO of the Amelia Island CVB, in announcing the event. “These restaurants aren’t just places to eat; they’re cornerstones of our community’s identity. Supporting them strengthens Amelia Island as a whole, and we’re proud to champion the small businesses that drive our culinary reputation.”
The focus was on each restaurant’s signature dish or specialty, and diners found a curated lineup that included Mediterranean staples, coastal seafood classics, chef-inspired dishes and much more.
The Jan. 15 opening dinner was “New Traditions” at Nonna Mia at Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa. The Jan. 25 closing dinner was “A Taste of Every Table” at Salt at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, where four chefs de cuisine from the resort’s acclaimed restaurants each presented a personal favorite.
The feedback was very positive following the event.
“Restaurant Week gives us a chance to showcase our restaurant to new customers and provides a value-added bonus to our customers who have been supportive over all these years,” said Tim Seyda, owner/operator of Bar Zin Bistro & Wine Bar and Cucina South. “Besides being a fun-filled week, our staff members had a very lucrative 10 days. It’s a perfect match, especially in mid-January. We love to support such a great event."
In fact, participating restaurants reported a year-over-year increase in business during the 10-day period.
