Prostate cancer subject of informative session

Ascension St. Vincent's St. Johns County recently welcomed a group of men from local 55+ communities and groups to the hospital for Men’s Health Month.

Dr. Marwan Ali, a urologist with St. Vincent’s, spoke with nearly 50 men on prostate health and cancer. He shared information and took questions about the risk factors, signs, symptoms, how to get screened and treatment.

Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer. About one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, and one in 44 will die from it, according to the American Cancer Society.

This is the second event in a series of educational events for our 55+ neighbors at the hospital. The next one will focus on emergencies and take place in August.
