Pepper’s Cocina recently celebrated the successful grand opening of its newest restaurant at 72 Spanish St., St Augustine, welcoming community leaders, elected officials, business partners, media representatives, residents and visitors for a weekend celebrating authentic Mexican cuisine, culture and hospitality.

The VIP grand opening on June 25 marked the beginning of a new chapter for the family-owned restaurant brand, followed by a community celebration throughout the weekend that introduced guests to Pepper’s signature dining experience in the heart of Florida’s oldest city.

Guests enjoyed samples of authentic Mexican cuisine prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, including freshly made guacamole handcrafted daily, throughout the day. The celebration also featured handcrafted margaritas, premium tequilas-including Pepper’s signature 100% Blue Agave tequila-and the warm hospitality that has made Pepper’s a favorite destination across Florida.

The restaurant’s traditional hacienda-inspired atmosphere and commitment to exceptional guest experiences created an unforgettable welcome for the St. Augustine community.

“We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome we received from the St. Augustine community,” said Vanessa Garcia, owner of Pepper’s Cocina. “Seeing so many neighbors, friends, business leaders and visitors celebrate with us was truly meaningful. Our family looks forward to serving this community for many years to come and creating memorable experiences around authentic Mexican food and hospitality.”

Founded more than 21 years ago in Port St. Joe, Florida, and rooted in a family hospitality tradition that began more than 27 years ago in Franklin, Tennessee, Pepper's Cocina has grown to 17 locations across Florida. The restaurant remains committed to the core values that inspired its founding: providing an authentic Mexican experience by uniting people through exceptional food, genuine hospitality and meaningful connections.

Each Pepper’s location celebrates the heritage and traditions of Mexico while also embracing the unique character of the communities it serves.

The opening of the St. Augustine restaurant comes during a milestone year, as Pepper’s celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Amelia Island location, reflecting the brand’s long-standing relationship with Florida communities.

Now open at 72 Spanish St., Pepper's Cocina invites residents and visitors to experience authentic Mexican flavors, handcrafted cocktails, premium tequilas and an atmosphere inspired by the warmth and beauty of a traditional Mexican hacienda.

This successful opening underscores Pepper’s continued commitment to becoming an active member of the St. Augustine community and creating a welcoming space where every guest can feel at home and make lasting memories.

Founded on a family dream more than 27 years in the making, Pepper’s Cocina is a family-owned Mexican restaurant dedicated to sharing the rich flavors, traditions, and hospitality of Mexico.
