The Professional Artists of St. Augustine (PAStA) Fine Art Gallery has welcomed Laura Nash as the newest jeweler at the gallery. Nash earned her BA in fine art from the Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, where she focused mainly on acrylic painting, photography and ceramics. Additionally, Nash attended the Columbus College of Art and Design, which led her into a career as a graphic designer.
“I took my first jewelry class while in high school and furthered my education in the craft at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center,” she noted. “Although, I continued to grow in my painting career, my interest in designing and creating jewelry is still a passion I pursue today.”
Nash’s use of sterling silver in her delicate necklaces, earrings and rings is complemented by additions of small colored stones or precision hammering. The circle, a common theme in her work, is evocative of the continuance of life and time. Her jewelry evokes preciousness without the saccharine quality of mass-produced jewelry. Her one-of-a-kind pieces can be easily worn by all ages and from casual day-to-day to once-in-a-lifetime event gifts.
