Public meeting will address one-cent tax increase

The St. Johns County Civic Roundtable will host a public meeting at noon Oct. 10 to provide county residents information about the proposed one-cent sales tax increase. Henry Dean, chairman of the County Commission, will present information about the sales tax and how the proceeds will be used.

Residents are invited to attend to hear the presentation and ask questions so that they will be informed, as this issue will be on the Nov. 8 ballot.

The meeting will be held at the Waterworks Building, 184 San Marco Ave., St. Augustine.

PLAYERS Championship event planned at senior center

Council on Aging has announced that a special PLAYERS Championship event will be held Oct. 13 at THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Members of the public are invited to attend the event which starts at 11 a.m. for golf festivities sponsored by THE PLAYERS Championship. Meet PLAYERS employees, take part in an outdoor putting competition and enjoy golf-themed activities. Tournament staff will be onsite for approximately three hours on this day interacting with senior center participants and the Ponte Vedra Beach community.

Refreshments will be provided and prizes for different activities will be awarded. You won’t want to miss this celebration — or the big surprise announcement planned.

Mega Open House weekend is Oct. 8-9
