Farmers market open every Friday
The Ponte Vedra Friday Farmers Market takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday at Palm Valley Outdoors, 377 S. Roscoe Blvd., Ponte Vedra Beach, offering fresh produce, local farm goods and a welcoming space to connect with neighbors and small businesses.
This farmers market features fresh, organically grown produce; Florida grass-fed beef and pork; real local honey; pasture-raised chicken and eggs; wholegrain breads; gluten-free sourdough bread; natural botanical skincare; creations by local artisans and more in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Family seining activity planned
Join a guided family seining activity from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Guana Tolomato Matanzas (GTM) National Estuarine Research Reserve.
Learn about the animals and their roles in Guana Lake by pulling a seine net and collecting species of fish, crabs and other marine life.
Meet at GTM Research Reserve Guana Dam, 505 Guana River Road, Ponte Vedra Beach.

The event is free, but parking is $3 per vehicle. All necessary gear (waders and boots) will be provided. Hat, insect repellent, water and sunscreen are recommended.
Bad Dog Mama show planned
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, enjoy an energetic evening of songs you know and love in the Friends of the Library room at the Ponte Vedra Beach Library. Bad Dog Mama is a female-driven ensemble that highlights the power of vocal harmonies, percussive rhythm and a dynamic choice of song. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m.

The Palm Valley Market is open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Grief support group to meet
A grief support group meets on the third Wednesday of every month at St. Paul's Catholic Church in the Fr. Kelly Room of the Kelly Athletic Center, 212 Fifth Street N., Jacksonville Beach. Archaeology event planned
On Oct. 18, the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) will celebrate International Archaeology Day with an artifact display and book sale in Building 51 at the University of North Florida. There will also be a 3-D printer demonstration.
The usual meeting will be held at noon with a lecture by Dr. Sara S. Cohen, a professor at Florida State University, who was named the Frieda Florence Renner Lecturer by AIA. Her lecture is titled “Creating an Empire: Political Consolidation Strategies in Western Mesoamerica, c. AD 1000-1530.”
This talk explores the archaeological evidence for political and cultural changes in Postclassic (AD 1000-1530) western Mesoamerica, as well as future work in the region. The lecture and artifact display are free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be served after the event in the Anthropology Lab.

Fun, family event planned at Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County
Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County will host a free community event on Sunday, Oct. 19: trunk-or-treat, from 4 to 6 p.m. This is a safe and fun way to trick or treat from trunk to trunk in a festive, family atmosphere while getting to know the local health care team.
There will be a health fair, free candy, prizes, food trucks and more. Costumes are encouraged. There will be a costume contest for all ages up to 12 years old.
And, of course, don't forget your treat bucket.
Free flu vaccines will also be offered at this event.

Weil to speak at Democratic Club meeting
The Ponte Vedra Democratic Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, 101 Library Blvd. Optional chat and chew is at 5:30 p.m.
Josh Weil, former candidate for U.S. House and U.S. Senate, will share lessons learned from his races and reflections on the political landscape for 2026.
