Courses in CPR, AED and child safety offered

Edie Williams State Farm will offer two educational courses on Saturday, Sept. 13.

A child and babysitting safety certification course will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. for youth ages 11-16. This is an online course plus classroom. Cost is $52 per participant. Register at https://aftontickets.com/babysittingsept13.

A community CPR AED — infant, child and adult course will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for ages 11+ and adults. This is an online course plus classroom. Cost is $47 per participant. Register at https://aftontickets.com/cprsept13.

Farmers' market open every Friday

The Ponte Vedra Friday Farmers' Market takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday at The Peace of Heart Community Farm, offering fresh produce, local farm goods and a welcoming space to connect with neighbors and small businesses.

This farmers' market features fresh, organically grown produce; Florida grass-fed beef and pork; real local honey; pasture-raised chicken and eggs; wholegrain breads; gluten-free sourdough bread; natural botanical skincare; creations by local artisans and more in a family-friendly atmosphere

Volunteer Blast-Off

Beach cleanup is Saturday

The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM) will conduct a beach cleanup from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26. Meet at the GTM Research Reserve Visitor Center, 505 Guana River Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, where gloves and trash bags will be provided. Participants will be directed to a specific beach for cleanup. Hat, insect repellent, water and sunscreen are recommended.

St. Johns County earns financial reporting award

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States (GFOA) named St. Johns County a 2023 Triple Crown Winner for earning three distinct awards for communicating financial information openly and transparently to the public. St. Johns County is one of just 403 governments in the United States and Canada that received the Triple Crown for fiscal year 2023.

GFOA’s Triple Crown designation recognizes governments that have received GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, and the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, published by the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s Office, as well as the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, published by the St. Johns County Office of Management & Budget.
