The Nease Marching Band (Panther Regiment) under the direction of band director Ben Gaona competed in the Battle on the Border in Valdosta, Georgia, on Oct. 18.
The day started at 6 a.m. at Nease High School with breakfast and uniform checks. By 7:30 a.m., the band was on the way to compete against 16 other bands from multiple states.
During the preliminary round, The Panther Regiment performed its 2025 show title, “Dance, Love, Believe.” The band earned superior ratings in the following four categories: Drum Major, Percussion, Color Guard and Overall Band, and took home third place in AAA competition and third place in Silver Division ensuring a spot in the final round of competition.
During the finals, The Panther Regiment again performed its 2025 show title, “Dance, Love, Believe.” After the scores were tallied, The Panther Regiment finished seventh place overall, beating the band that came in first in AAA and first in Silver Division in the preliminary round.
