Mulch Madness is back for year 15 of lacrosse fundraising

Posted

Ponte Vedra boys lacrosse often plays their games on grass, especially when they take the field for their home games in the Shark Tank, but for their major fundraiser each year they sell and deliver mulch.

What makes it such a unique fundraiser is also one of the primary reasons why it remains in place and has developed into quite a tradition over the past 15 years.

This year’s mulch madness comes about a month earlier than last year and is currently underway, and any residents looking to purchase mulch can fill out a form by going to pvlax.com/mulchmadness/buymulch.

Over the years, the selection has grown and now even includes more than just mulch, as pine straw bales are also available, as well as pine bark nuggets, which are about the size of a quarter.

The forms of mulch this year are brown shredded cypress, red shredded cypress and black shredded mulch.

The cost is $8 per bag or bale, with each bag or bale covering three cubic feet, and free delivery will once again be provided for residents living in Ponte Vedra and Nocatee on March 23 and 24.

In order to qualify for the free delivery, a minimum of 10 bags or $80 must be purchased.

One of the special aspects of the fundraiser is that players on this year’s Sharks squad will be the ones who will be delivering the mulch to each home.

The Sharks are a contender for the state title in boys lacrosse seemingly every year and the program has solidified itself as one of the teams to be reckoned with, including a tough schedule that features top teams from around the nation.

Fundraisers like Mulch Madness are key to making sure the support they need to pay for the materials needed to maintain that success is in place.
