THE PLAYERS hosted the 15th annual military job fair on Saturday, March 7. The weather was beautiful and sunny at Patriot’s Outpost and at least 300 veterans and military family members attended with their resumes in hand.
Bill Hickey, one of the organizers and leaders of the job fair, said that more than 35 companies participated. The job fair is free to both attendees and companies. Veterans or anyone with a veteran in their family are eligible to attend and apply for many wonderful job opportunities. The companies and businesses that attended included sheriff’s offices, banks, police departments, fire departments, insurance carriers, resource centers and clinics.
Aubrey Scott, who was there with Clay County Government, shared about how they actively hire veterans and provide veterans’ preferences. Around 20% of their employees are veterans.
William Cousins, colonel and U.S. Army retired director, shared about the support UNF offers to 2,200 military-connected students, including active duty, veterans and family of veterans. UNF offers education benefits and life skills classes including financial literacy, investing and wellness to help military-connected students transition to campus life.
The Military Job Fair was a success and offered support to military families and veterans who are adjusting to civilian life and entering a new chapter.
