Keane’s Tavern is set to open Halloween weekend. Owner Evan Rajta said the Irish-pub-inspired tavern will offer drink specials, swag giveaways and even more fun details to come.
Keane’s Tavern began as a thank you to Rajta’s wife’s family, the Keanes, for all of their support over the years.
“It was only natural that we create an Irish pub concept that celebrates that family connection,” Rajta said.
Keane’s Tavern is part of a plan to revitalize Bay Street and create sustainable economic growth in the area.
“We wanted to make a great neighborhood gathering spot where locals could feel at home — kind of a go-to place,” Rajta said.
Keane’s will serve craft cocktails as well as local and imported beers. The menu will consist of traditional Irish recipes and popular tavern dishes including Irish sausages, shepherd’s pie, salads, wings, fried pickles and juicy double-stacked burgers.
As far as future events go, Rajta said, “We’re really excited to have live music and become a place that features local musicians in an intimate setting. And we’re obviously going to do it up for St. Patrick’s Day.”
The inviting and warm atmosphere of Keane’s is hoped to be a great addition to downtown Jacksonville. To stay in the know, follow Keane’s Tavern on Facebook and @keanestavernjax on Instagram.
