The Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA) held its annual Scholarship Trust Banquet on Tuesday, May 20 at Deerwood Country Club in Jacksonville, where it announced its Class of 2025 scholarship recipients.
Twenty-three students were honored, and in addition, Juan Raigoza of Sawgrass Country Club was awarded a scholarship in support of his Level 3 PGA of America certification program.
Also, eight of the 23 scholarship awardees received enhanced recognition and scholarship support.
Each recipient will be awarded a $1,250 scholarship for each semester of the 2025-2026 school year. Scholarships are renewable each semester based on scholars meeting certain criteria, including a minimum grade-point average, and required number of credit hours for up to eight semesters.
The class of 23 scholars is the largest in the 51-year history of the JAGA Scholarship Trust. The group’s grade-point-average is 3.5, with every scholar having committed numerous hours to community service and most holding down part-time jobs to help defray their educational expenses.
The Level 3 PGA assistant professional scholarship was awarded to Raigoza, who is in the process of securing his Class A certificate.
Having successfully completed his Level 2 certification, Raigoza will receive a $2,500 scholarship from JAGA. Also, he is registered for Level 3 certification, which will qualify him for an additional $2,500 scholarship once he successfully completes it.
He is a graduate of “The Golf Academy of America” in Orlando and has been active in junior golf development. He is an assistant professional on Sawgrass Country Club’s director of golf Nate Marozzi’s staff.
Since the JAGA Scholarship Trust was formed in 1974, JAGA has awarded approximately $2 million in grants to approximately 400 deserving young students. The Trust is JAGA’s 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit entity that manages the scholarship program.
