Tropical Storm Ian closures and cancellations announced

Here is a partial list of closures and cancellations announced as Tropical Storm Ian approaches.

The Fall Jacksonville Home + Patio Show scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled. Ticket purchasers can use their tickets for any 2023 Jacksonville Home + Patio Show, donate the ticket purchase price to Habitat for Humanity or receive a refund. St. Johns County libraries, bookmobiles, and book drops are closed today through Friday. Operational decisions beyond Friday will be determined based on weather conditions. Due dates will be extended and fines will not be incurred during the closure.

St. Johns County Public Schools: All schools will be closed through Friday due to Tropical Storm Ian. All athletic contests and extracurricular activities will also be canceled from Wednesday until further notice.

Duval County Public Schools: Schools and district offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, and all activities will be cancelled. The Oct. 14 weather day will be a regular school day for students and staff.

Diocese of St. Augustine: Cathedral Parish School and St. Joseph Academy in St. Augustine will be closed through Friday. Stay informed at https://www.dosaeducation.org/

The Bolles School: School will be closed both Thursday and Friday. Unless announced otherwise, all scheduled practices will continue Wednesday afternoon. The varsity football game originally scheduled for Friday night against Episcopal has been moved to Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at ESJ. St. Johns Country Day School will be closed through Sunday, Oct. 2. This affects all on-campus activities, athletic practices and contests. Keep informed at https://www.sjcds.net/

St. Johns County Council on Aging has announced that all COA facilities and senior centers will be closed through Friday in response to the expected weather impact of Tropical Storm Ian. This includes all COA senior centers, the Sunshine Center adult day care center, the Ponte Vedra Memory Care Center and COA’s administrative offices.

Meals on Wheels for the remainder of the week will be delivered to scheduled recipients on Wednesday. Wednesday will be the last delivery day this week for Meals on Wheels.

The Lucius performance scheduled for Friday on The Backyard Stage at The Amp has been canceled.

The Castillo de San Marcos and Ft. Matanzas National Monuments are closed.

The St. Augustine Visitors Center is closed and plans to reopen on Saturday.

Jacksonville University: All campuses will be closed through Friday. All classes, activities, and events are canceled, and administrative offices will be closed during this time. For more information, go to ju.edu/emergency/weather/index.php

The University of North Florida is canceling all classes, including online classes, from through Saturday, Oct. 1. University offices will be closed during this time. Activities and events scheduled on campus are also canceled. The university plans to resume normal operations on Sunday, Oct. 2.

The Florida State College at Jacksonville Emergency Management Team has determined to close all FSCJ campuses and centers through Friday, including online classes. In addition, all faculty and administrative offices will also be closed Wednesday through Friday.
Campuses and centers are scheduled to reopen on Saturday, Oct. 1, at regularly scheduled times. A decision on weekend classes will be made no later than Friday, Sept. 30, at noon. Keep informed at https://fscj.apparmor.com/

First Coast YMCA: The Ponte Vedra Beach Y is under an evacuation order and will be closed until the evacuation order is lifted and we determine the branch is safe to open.

YMCA at Baptist North will be closing today (Wednesday) at 3:30 p.m. because the Baptist North Medical Office building is closing earlier.

YMCA at Nocatee will also be closing today (Wednesday) at 5 p.m. to accommodate the Baptist Healthplace at Nocatee’s closing time.

The St. Augustine Y closed Wednesday due to evacuation order and will be closed until the evacuation order is lifted and we determine the branch is safe to open.

Sunshine Bus: St. Johns County Council on Aging has announced that Sunshine Bus service will be suspended today (Wednesday) and Thursday due to conditions related to Tropical Storm Ian. Bus service on Friday will be determined and announced at a future time pending weather conditions.
