The first “A Night of Joy and Hope,” a special benefit gala honoring the Sisters of Mary and their extraordinary mission of serving impoverished children around the world, will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.
The event will take place at Our Lady Star of the Sea Cultural Center. The evening will feature testimonials from graduates, a cocktail reception, dinner and a program highlighting the Sisters of Mary’s life-changing work with children in the Philippines, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras and Tanzania.
Bishop Erik Pohlmeier of the Diocese of St. Augustine will attend, along with other local dignitaries, parish leaders and supporters of the mission.
All proceeds from the evening will support the work of the Sisters, and all donations will be matched up to $500,000.
All are welcome. Individual tickets are $250. Table sponsorships are available at worldvillages.org/gala
Since 1964, the Sisters of Mary have carried forward the apostolate begun by Venerable Father Aloysius Schwartz, bringing residential care, academic education, vocational training and faith formation to the world’s poorest children. Currently they have more than 180,000 graduates and more than 20,000 children in their care annually.
