Florie Adiutori, 77, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away December 13, 2021. She was born April 8, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, to Joseph and Elsie Scholnick. Florie was married for 57 years to her best friend, Joseph Adiutori. They had two children, Erika Adiutori Rumsey and Marc Adiutori, and three grandchildren, Cameron, Harrison and Samantha Rumsey, who were the light of her life.

Florie was a devoted, loyal, loving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and advocate for those who had the great fortune to know her or have their lives touched by her. Florie’s servant’s heart lived by the adage “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” (Mahatma Gandhi). Florie served as President of Cancer Care of Western Suffolk, NY. She was a board member of Betty Griffin House and was chair for many years of the Betty Griffin House fashion show. Florie was chair of the service auction at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville for numerous years and cofounded her Breast Friends For Life breast cancer support group 29 years ago, and it is still running today. Florie loved volunteering in both her children’s and grandchildren’s schools, and especially enjoyed being the garden lady/bug lady in Cheryl Charles’s kindergarten class every other week for 17 years. The titles she enjoyed most were that of grandmother, mother, wife, sister, and friend. She never met a stranger, and loved a good party and bringing others together, especially at her yearly Christmas open house. There was always an open space in their home for anyone alone for any of the holidays.

Florie was predeceased by her parents, Joe & Elsie Scholnick; and her sister, Sheila Barth. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Adiutori; sister, Wilma Brandt; daughter, Erika Rumsey (Cayce); son, Marc Adiutori; grandchildren, Cameron, Harrison and Samantha Rumsey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A small graveside service will be held for close family and friends at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida or the Betty Griffin House. Please sign the online guestbook at www.pontevedravalley.com
