Florida Chamber Music Project (FCMP) will host its final concert of the season on May 31, incorporating selections by Jessie Montgomery and Beethoven.
“Despite their differing eras, Jessie Montgomery’s ‘Voodoo Dolls’ and ‘Source Code’ and Beethoven’s Op. 59 No. 3, all use the string quartet as a flexible vehicle for innovation, characterized by rhythmic dynamism, cultural integration, expressive contrast and structural reimagining,” explained Susan Pardue, FCMP’s artistic director. “These commonalities make each piece a bold statement within its own time.”
Tickets are available now on FCMP’s website and at the door. The concert will be held at the Beaches Museum Chapel and Museum at 505 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach. Beaches Museum Chapel is wheelchair-accessible, and all attendees are invited to join the artists for refreshments following each concert.
The Florida Chamber Music Project, founded by violist Pardue, aims to foster joy, connection and education in the community through live classical chamber music. Pardue is regularly joined by fellow Jacksonville Symphony musicians Patrice Evans (violin), Ann Hertler (violin), Laurie Casseday (cello), Victoria Stjerna (violin) and Igor Khukhua (violin), as well as frequent special guests.
