Fishing tournament planned at Guana

The Friends of GTM will present the first annual Redfish Wrangle Fishing Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Whether you’re casting from a boat, kayak or land, this one-fish, slot-limit tournament is your chance to take home $500, win prizes and celebrate the estuary during National Estuaries Week.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Tournament day is Saturday, Sept. 27. Fishing kicks off at 7 a.m. Weigh-in from 3 to 5 p.m. Awards at 5:30 p.m.
  • Location is GTMNERR Visitors Center, 505 Guana River Road, Ponte Vedra Beach
  • Mandatory check-in: 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at North Guana Outpost, 4415 Mickler Road, Ponte Vedra Beach.

Prizes:

  • $500 Grand Prize (with 30-plus adult entries)
  • Youth Prize Pack (ages 14 and younger)
  • 50% Calcutta payout for redfish with the most spots
  • “Small Fry” prize for the smallest legal red

Early Bird Pricing (ends Sept. 11):

  • Adult (Kayak/Land): $45
  • Adult (Boat): $60
  • Youth (ages 14 and younger): $25

Late registration runs Sept. 12-25. No day-of registration.
