A family-led movement in Ponte Vedra invites school-aged youths to grow in faith, creativity and giving, through free hands-on devotional gatherings.
Every other Monday in Ponte Vedra, a special kind of light fills the Palm Valley Community Center — not from screens or spotlights, but from the joy of youth creating with purpose. This is SHINE nights — a free community art and faith movement created and fully funded by The Flynn Family, inspired by Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others.”
Founded by Laura Flynn, SHINE nights provide school-aged youths a space to gather, reflect and grow in faith through creative, hands-on devotional projects. Each gathering includes a short message, prayer and an activity that connects to Scripture — reminding every child that they are God’s masterpiece, created with purpose and capable of making a difference through giving back.
The next gathering will be held 4-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the Palm Valley Community Center, followed by the special SHINE-Giving Night at 4-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17. During SHINE-Giving, participants will pack and pray over 100 shoeboxes they’ve collected for children in need through Operation Christmas Child, a global mission that delivers gift-filled boxes and the message of God’s love to children around the world. For many, it’s the first gift they’ve ever received and a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued and loved.
“Our mission is simple,” says Flynn. “We provide the space so youth can shine their light through creativity, kindness and faith in action. We simply provide the space — they’re the ones who truly shine.”
