Dr. Richard J. Cassidy Jr., age 63, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL passed away at home peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep with his loving wife by his side on July 2nd, 2023. Rich was born in Endicott, NY on May 30th, 1960. He lived there throughout his childhood. Rich attended Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA, then attended medical school at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Rich was an ER physician at Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, FL. While working in the emergency department he obtained his MBA and made his transition into the corporate world of medicine, working for various companies over the years. Rich was a lover of music, most notably Jason Isbell, Tom Petty, and the Rolling Stones. He was an avid golfer, car enthusiast, and sports fan. Rich was also the most honest, hard-working, supportive, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He never met a stranger and made everyone he came in contact with instantly feel like a friend. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Deborah (Debbie) Cassidy, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard J. Cassidy III (Rick) and Morgan Cassidy of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; his daughters and sons-in-law, Caitlin and Matt Laurence of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Kelly and Jon Shaffer of Lake Mary, FL; three grandchildren Richard J. Cassidy IV (RJ), Miles Cassidy, and Madison Shaffer; sisters Dr. Susan Cassidy of Naples, FL and Joy Cassidy of Yulee, FL, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard J. Cassidy, and Joyce Cassidy. Rich was celebrated at a private celebration of life with close friends and family on Sunday, July 16th at Marsh Landing Country Club.
