In celebration of International Dog Day, the link held a Dog Festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26. The event featured the SwiftPaws agility course, a doggy talent show, dog training demonstration, a dog/owner look-alike contest and several vendor booths of interest to canine visitors and their human counterparts.
“We just wanted to have a fun day where people could celebrate dogs, celebrate our best friends,” said Keeli Scarlett, communications manager for the link. “It was amazing, absolutely amazing.”
Scarlett said the agility course, which featured a toy for dogs to chase drew a line of people, and the dogs demonstrated their eagerness to have their turn.
Visiting dogs kept cool and hydrated at the doggie beach while Tropical Smoothie Café hosted a cool zone for dog owners.
Proceeds from the event benefitted the Sapna Foundation.
