On June 13 and 14, community members stopped by Underwood Jewelers in Ponte Vedra to meet celebrity jewelry designer Erica Courtney. Several William Henry items were also on display over the weekend.
Not only could guests meet Courtney in person and discover her latest show-stopping designs, but they could also receive styling tips straight from the designer and explore custom design options.
“It’s so friendly and welcoming and beautiful,” Courtney said about her time in the Ponte Vedra store. “I love to come here.”
Courtney’s jewelry style is often described as bold and feminine, with designs that have graced red carpets and A-list stars around the world. Her iconic collection of chic statement pieces has pushed the boundaries of artisan jewelry, wowing customers with vivid-colored jewels, whimsical designs, and intricate details.
“All of the fancy details, the things people have never done, those make it more special,” Courtney said when describing her works.
With close to 600 pieces in her portfolio, Courtney has spent the last four decades in the jewelry space. She began in costume jewelry at the behest of her mother, gluing rhinestones onto sunglasses, and worked her way into silver. By the time she crafted herself a gold, gem-studded piece, the rest was history.
Today, Courtney’s signature Drop Dead Gorgeous collection includes dazzling necklaces, bracelets and rings that assert a powerful statement for those who wear them.
Courtney’s jewelry-making process means she’s heavily involved in every step, from sourcing the gems to the creation of the pieces, traveling to the mines in places like Columbia, Kenya and Mozambique to lay eyes on the stones herself.
“There’s so much to learn. Just when you think you know it all, which I’ve never thought, there’s more to learn,” Courtney said. “It’s ever-changing.”
