COA’s River House announces classes and events for June

Council on Aging (COA) has announced the following programs will be held at COA’s River House, 179 Marine St., St. Augustine, beginning in June. Classes are one to five weeks long and begin the first week of June.   • Play Pétanque — Four weeks starting Monday, June 1, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Happy Days Are Here Again! The Songs of the Great Depression — Five weeks starting Monday, June 1, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
  • Jewelry Wire Wrapping Class — Five weeks starting Monday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to noon

OPEN PROGRAMS

  • Mahjong Open Play — Bring your Mahjong game. Mondays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Happy Hookers — Join this social group as they crochet, knit, etc. Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • AARP Smart Driver Course — The nation’s first and largest refresher course designed specifically for older drivers. Per state regulations, most course participants receive a multi-year auto insurance discount for completing the course. Cost: $20 for AARP members, $25 for AARP nonmembers, payable to the instructor with cash or check. This class will meet over two days, on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 9 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pre-registration required as space is limited.   • One-on-One Tech Help — One-on-one help for your smart phone, tablet or laptop questions on Tuesday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 904-209-3655 to reserve a one-hour spot.
  • Remembering with Love — A time and place for remembering those we lost with love through grief support on Tuesdays from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.
  • Widow to Widow — A support group for widows by widows, Wednesdays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
  • SADC (Deaf) Group Meeting — meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Open Game Play — Bring your deck of cards or your board game and socialize over a friendly game of your choosing. There are games available at River House. Every Thursday from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m.
