Carol grew up in Sparrow Bush, N.Y., and after graduating high school in 1964, attended the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York City. She was a professional buyer at such notable stores as B. Altman and Co., Stern’s and Bloomingdale’s. She also worked in advertising sales at New York magazine. While living in the city, Carol would frequently travel to Boston, where she met her husband. In 1985, they moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., where Carol became a licensed realtor. She joined Berry & Co. Real Estate as part of the Ponte Vedra Carlyle sales team. When that project sold out, she stayed on to help buyers and sellers with real estate in Northeast Florida. After Rebecca was born, Carol took a break from real estate to pursue her passion for design and co-founded the retail home décor and gift shop Mineral City in 1997 with Laura Howson, who still owns and operates the store today.

Carol was a devout Catholic, proud to have served as an active member of her previous church, Our Lady Star of The Sea, and most recently Holy Family Catholic Church.
