Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA) Builders Care has secured $700,000 in appropriations as part of the 2025-26 state budget to build home-access ramps and repair or replace roofs for Northeast Florida’s most vulnerable citizens.
Due to the diligent work of state Sen. Clay Yarborough (R-Jacksonville) and Florida House Speaker Pro Tempore Wyman Duggan (R-Jacksonville), as well as the support of Gov. Ron DeSantis, Builders Care received a record level of state funding to help those in need in the community.
NEFBA Builders Care is a 501(c)(3) charity that provides affordable or no-cost construction services to veterans, the elderly and disabled individuals in Northeast Florida who are otherwise unable to afford these repairs or improvements.
With this $700,000 appropriation from the State of Florida, Builders Care anticipates being able to build 35 home-access ramps for disabled individuals and redo 35 roofs for those who need it most in the community.
“I have seen firsthand the work Builders Care does in our community and how they are changing the lives of our least fortunate citizens for the better,” Duggan said. “I was proud to help secure this state funding, which will allow Builders Care to provide freedom and quality of life again to those who need it most.”
“Builders Care continues to meet an important need in our community for our often overlooked low-income veterans, elderly and disabled citizens,” Yarborough said. “With this infusion of state funding, Builders Care will not only help these individuals stay in their homes but will also provide hope again to many who have lost it.”
NEFBA Builders Care combines purchased and donated material with volunteer and professional labor to provide cost-effective construction to those in need.
Founded in 2001, Builders Care has helped more than 1,000 of Northeast Florida’s most vulnerable citizens stay in their homes and live independent, healthy lives.
