Betty Griffin Center Breakfast to be held March 3

Posted

People can support Betty Griffin Center and learn more about the agency’s mission while they hear testimonials from survivors of domestic and sexual violence during the second annual Betty Griffin Center Breakfast on March 3 at The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach, located at 101 Plantation Drive.

Doors open at 7:15 a.m. in advance of the 8 a.m. breakfast and program. Tickets are $80 and are available now at Eventbrite (eventbrite.com/e/betty-griffin-center-2nd-annual-breakfast-tickets-1109274793769).

Proceeds from the breakfast will provide additional funding for emergency and support services, including an emergency shelter, rape care services at two local hospitals, transitional housing, counseling, legal assistance, financial literacy and preventive education programs.

Speakers this year include Florida Partnership to End Domestic Violence CEO Amanda Price, along with two survivors who will share their journey of healing. Guests will also hear from Betty Griffin Center’s CEO Kelly Franklin, board members and other community leaders.

“Last year, our guests heard from St. Johns County Sheriff Rob Hardwick and an inspiring story from Madison Schemitz, the teenager who survived a stabbing attack by a former boyfriend in Ponte Vedra,” Franklin said. “We were also joined by Kristin Paul, a two-time award-winning author who spoke about the difficulties women experience when it comes to domestic violence. This year, we expect the same inspiration from those taking part in the event.”

The event is sponsored by the Horschel Family Foundation along with Pearmid Properties LLC, KeHE Cares, The Shee Family, Women’s Care Foundation and Cisco Systems, Inc.
