A new school year is just around the corner, and for the first time, four longtime community champions are coming together to host a unified and expanded Beaches Back to School Bash at Carver Center.

The event will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Carver Center, 777 5th Ave. S., Jacksonville Beach.

This new partnership, hosted by Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM), will be bigger than ever thanks to new partnerships with the City of Jacksonville Beach, the Carver Center and Ocean City Church. Together, these organizations are working to ensure every child starts the school year confidently, equipped and ready to succeed.

“This event is more than just school supplies,” said Jeff Winkler, Chief Executive Officer of BEAM. “It’s about creating a positive and encouraging start to the school year. We are excited to join the City of Jax Beach, Ocean City Church and the Carver Center to enhance the impact and reach of this historic event that BEAM has been offering for over two decades.”

Children attending the event will have the opportunity to choose a free backpack, collect essential school supplies, pick out books to read for the year ahead and enjoy fun activities including a bounce house, music and food vendors.

“We’re so thankful to live in a community that partners to provide backpacks and supplies, giving kids confidence to start school strong,” said Lead Pastor Derek Harmon of Ocean City Church.

“Through this new approach, we will continue to ensure that our local families and children are prepared for another year of school, while also demonstrating the power of partnership. We are truly better when we work together!” said Chris Hoffman, mayor of Jacksonville Beach.

This event is first-come, first-served, and open to all families in the Beaches community. Early arrival is encouraged. All backpacks and school supplies will be given out to the first 500 children who arrive. Families can RSVP for the event at jaxbeam.org/back-to-school-bash to help speed up check-in on the day of the event.
